Hotels are getting modernized and sometimes they don't list if the pool is open while you are there. It can ruin a vacation when the kids want to go to the pool and you find it is closed for renovations while you are there. A hotel can state on their own hotel website that they have a survey, but it's still a good idea to call the hotel to make sure the pool is open while you're there.

While it's nice to have the experience of dining outside of your hotel, when you're on vacation sometimes it can tire you out and you may not want to leave your hotel. When selecting a hotel, check what kind of dining options it offers. Some hotels offer just one or two dining options, while others offer a variety of options. Many of the hotels offer fine dining in the evening, so it would be good to check what kind of attire is suitable for this type of restaurant.

#3 Amenity - Spa and/or Fitness Club

Many Hotels today offer an onsite spa or health center. If you are looking to indulge yourself while you are on trip, check into these choices. While some hotels offer onsite spas and fitness centers, others offer affiliate programs. These programs offer discounts to nearby spas or fitness centers. A lot of times when a spa is offsite the hotel will provide transportation. It is still a good idea to check with the hotel to see what they do and do not offer in regards to a spa and health club. If events end later than you would like, and you still like the hotel, request a room away from the area where the entertainment or event is being held. If onsite entertainment is your thing, it is a good idea to talk with the hotel's concierge to get a list of events going on at the hotel.
